Member Locator Service
|
The church can help you get a message to any of its members. It will not give you the member's address, but it will forward your message to the member if it can. Thanks to Jerry James for information about this procedure.
- Get two envelopes, and two (or more) sheets of writing paper.
- Write a letter to the member you're looking for. Include enough information that he can respond to you (e. g., your phone number, address, maybe even E-mail address). Seal this letter in envelope #1, and write the member's name on the outside.
- Write down everything you know about this member (how old he is, where he has lived in the past, where he was born, where he served his mission, who his parents and children are, etc.). The more details you can recall, the greater your chance of success. Place this information sheet and envelope #1 inside of envelope #2 and seal it.
- Address envelope #2 to: Member Locator Service
Membership Department
50 E. North Temple
Salt Lake City, UT 84150
- Post envelope #2 and wait.
The Member Locator Service will search the church's membership records to try to find a match. That's why it is important to include as much detail as you can. If they find a match, they will forward envelope #1 to the last known address for the member you're looking for. They will not give you his address. If he is still at that address, then he will (hopefully) contact you after reading your letter.
